Bowl of Fortune opened its doors just prior to the Chinese New Year in late January 2025, and was welcomed by diners from Wheeling and across the Chicagoland region. Located at 1 Huntington Lane in Wheeling Commons, the Szechuan Chinese restaurant offers family-style dining with generous portions at reasonable prices. The robust menu can suit a variety of tastes and preferences, while several of the dishes offer a spicy kick for those more adventurous.

The restaurant owner, Perry Zhao, was drawn to Wheeling and felt that there was a demand for high-quality, full-service Chinese options in the area. Zhao has decades of experience in the hospitality industry. After managing a restaurant in Chinatown for 20 years, he wanted to venture out on his own and currently owns and operates several restaurants and franchises throughout Chicagoland.

NBC 5 Chicago's Food Guy program recently featured sister restaurant Szechuan Alley in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood; the segment also mentioned Bowl of Fortune as a North Shore destination for authentic cuisine.

Bowl of Fortune is open seven days a week with a daily closure from 3-4 p.m.  They restaurant can accommodate over 100 guests.
