The Village of Wheeling Board of Trustees and key staff attended a ribbon cutting in honor of Stumara’s grand opening celebration (Stumara in Georgian means “Be My Guest”). Stumara is located at 847 W. Dundee Road in Dunhurst Plaza. Stumara offers a diverse cuisine and rich culinary heritage of Georgia, a nation at the crossroads of Asia and Europe. Georgian cuisine includes robust flavors and ancient winemaking traditions that date back generations. A Georgian restaurant is a rare gem in the Chicago area. Attendees at the ribbon cutting also included Illinois State Representative Mary Beth Canty, Cook County Commissioner Scott R. Britton, Chamber board members and staff, among others.
The owners of Stumara also own the Pirosmani Bakery and Deli next door, which opened two years ago. Stumara’s owners determined that to accommodate guests and create an elevated dining experience, an expansion of the space was needed. Fortunately, the space immediately adjacent to the existing space had been vacated by an insurance office. Stumara signed a 10-year-lease and the Village Board awarded Stumara a restaurant grant in the amount of $21,166.37, which greatly assisted with the build-out.
Stumara has received positive press, including a mention in Eater Chicago.
