Wheeling High School Receives National Recognition for Robotics and Technical Curriculum

Staff Reports

Since 2008, Wheeling High School (WHS) has offered a manufacturing curriculum for Career and Technical Education (CTE) students. The CTE program has grown to include Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machining, welding, tooling design, 3D printing, laser cutting, and, most recently, robotics.  During a January 2025 Wheeling Area Chamber Board meeting, representatives from WHS announced that the school has been named an official North American Charter School by ABB Robotics, a global leader in manufacturing technology. Through this partnership, ABB Robotics has provided WHS with an educational package that includes four six-axis articulated arm robots, course materials, and certifications for both students and instructors. This partnership underscores Wheeling’s strong connection to advanced manufacturing while equipping the next generation of skilled workers.Â
